Michigan’s Minimum PFAS Analyte List Grows
Four new compounds have been added to the State of Michigan’s minimum laboratory PFAS analyte list, bringing the total to 28. The list is maintained by the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE) for the testing of drinking water, groundwater, surface water, wastewater, soil, and landfill leachate.
Michigan’s minimum PFAS analyte list was developed based on the potential of these chemicals to be detected in Michigan, chemical standards availability, and the ability of laboratories to test for these PFAS.
The four new PFAS compounds added to Michigan’s minimum analyte list include:
Hexafluoropropylene oxide dimer acid (HFPO-DA)
11-chloroeicosafluoro-3-oxaundecane-1-sulfonic acid (11Cl-PF3OUdS)
9-chlorohexadecafluoro-3-oxanone1-sulfonic acid (9Cl-PF3ONS )
4,8-dioxa-3H-perfluorononanoic acid (ADONA)
You can view the entire list of the minimum laboratory PFAS analytes by visiting Merit Laboratories’ PFAS resources page.
It should be noted that the list includes PFAS that can be tested for in drinking water using U.S. EPA Methods 537 Rev.1.1 or 537.1, which are the only methods that should be used when analyzing drinking water samples. Other analytical test methods may be used to test for PFAS in non-drinking water samples, like wastewater, surface water, and soil. Merit Laboratories is available to consult with you to discuss available analytical options for your project-specific needs.
Merit is a leading PFAS environmental laboratory, analyzing drinking water, soil, wastewater, groundwater, and other sample matrices. Merit is certified for the analysis of PFAS by ISO/IEC 17025. Analytical method certification for PFAS includes drinking water by EPA 537.1 and EPA 537 rev. 1.1 and soil, wastewater, groundwater, and surface water by ASTM D7979 with Isotopic Dilution.
