Characterizing Unknowns with FTIR

Advancing laboratory testing capabilities by adopting and implementing the latest in scientific testing instrumentation is key to servicing clients with specialized project needs. One of Merit’s newest additions to its instrumentation roster is a Perkin Elmer FTIR.

FTIR spectroscopy is used for a variety of testing procedures and objectives, including characterizing and identifying unknown samples and materials. FTIR testing can be performed on both organic and inorganic compounds for solids, liquids, and gases. The Perkin Elmer FTIR Spectrum Two instrument will supplement testing services performed by Merit Laboratories for materials characterization. FTIR testing is commonly used in the scientific industry to support a variety of markets, including environmental, pharmaceutical, energy, polymers, and academic research.

Merit Laboratories is one of the nation’s leading environmental testing laboratories, analyzing air, soil, wastewater, groundwater, drinking water, and other sample matrices for a diverse range of analytical parameters.
