Merit Laboratories Receives NELAP Renewal Certification
Merit Laboratories is pleased to announce that it has successfully completed renewal of its National Environmental Laboratory Accreditation Program (NELAP) certification. Merit's primary NELAP certification is through the New York State Department of Health.
As part of its NELAP certification, Merit is accredited for a diverse range of analytical parameters and sample matrices. Parameters that Merit is certified for include metals, wet chemistry, inorganics, volatile organic compounds (VOCs), semi-volatile organic compounds (SVOCs), pesticides, PCBs, chlorinated hydrocarbons, and waste characterization methods. Sample matrices that Merit is NELAP-accredited for include potable water (drinking water), non-potable water (groundwater, wastewater, surface water), solid (soil, sediment, wipes), hazardous waste, and air.
NELAP is a laboratory certification program that fosters the generation of data of known and documented quality. NELAP, organized by The NELAC Institute (TNI), relies on standards representing the best professional practices in the environmental laboratory industry to establish the requirements for this program.
Merit’s NELAP accreditation covers five major environmental regulatory programs:
- Clean Air Act (CAA),
- Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA) (Superfund)
- Clean Water Act (CWA),
- Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), and
- Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA)
