To our valued clients,
Merit Laboratories, Inc. will continue to provide analytical testing services with as few disruptions as possible and in a manner that is in accordance with the current and future executive orders and other legal requirements by the State of Michigan in response to COVID-19.
In summary, Michigan’s Executive Order 2020-21 (COVID-19) given by Governor, Gretchen Whitmer, on March 23, 2020 provides a temporary requirement to suspend activities that are not necessary to sustain or protect life. Related to business operations, workers may leave their homes to the extent necessary (1) to sustain or protect life (i.e., providing critical infrastructure services) or (2) to conduct minimum basic operations. Consistent with existing and future safety measures to minimize risk to Merit’s employees as the top priority, Merit plans to continue operation to the extent possible so that it can provide its critical infrastructure services and conduct minimum basic operations.
Merit’s number one priority is the health and safety of our staff. To help support the slowdown of COVID–19 and social distancing, we are taking the following precautions:
Face-to-face interactions have been minimized by: (i) having non-laboratory personnel work from home, (ii) having laboratory personnel work from home to the extent possible (e.g., data analysis/processing); (iii) establishing staggered day/evening schedules for laboratory personnel to minimize the number of people on site at a given time, and (iv) reducing the number of active laboratory personnel.
The external drop box on the side of our building by the sample receiving entrance will be used for sample deliveries and bottle pick-up.
All commonly used hard surfaces, door knobs, light switches, drinking fountains, etc. are disinfected several times per day.
All laboratory personnel are required to wear gloves when handling samples and glassware.
All laboratory personnel are encouraged to wash their hands with soap for minimum of 20 seconds frequently.
As before, our project managers (Megan Chilcote and Samantha Smith) are working remotely with full access to electronic communications. John Laverty is also available by phone and email. Merit’s team will continue to service all incoming and in-house projects (including accepting and preparing bottle orders, data reporting, responding to questions, and requests, invoicing, etc.)
Barb Ball, Isaak Murshak and Maya Murshak will be at the laboratory available to provide service and support. Please feel free to contact us any time.
